Intel Corporation is one of the world's largest chip manufacturers, designing and manufacturing microprocessors for the global PC and data center markets. It pioneered the x86 architecture for microprocessors and is a major proponent of Moore's Law, which relates to the advancement of semiconductor manufacturing.
Intel's server processor business has gained profits by shifting its focus to the cloud. However, with the decline of the PC market, Intel is expanding into new adjacent fields such as the Internet of Things, memory, artificial intelligence, and automotive. It is actively pursuing mergers and acquisitions, including the acquisitions of Altera, Mobileye, Nervana, and Movidius, to further develop in non-PC areas.
Furthermore, Intel is collaborating with Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson to develop software infrastructure for network function virtualization, distributed cloud, and 5G applications. It is also developing a training neural network processor (NNP) with Baidu, Inc. and accelerating indoor 5G availability in partnership with Corning Incorporated.
In terms of revenue distribution, Intel's total sales are distributed to the United States (21.7%), China (27.8%), Singapore (21.7%), Taiwan (14%), and other markets.
Founded in 1968, Intel is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
